Kibingo, this time the washed version! This coffee is sourced through Greenco, who work with over 1,700 smallholder farmers who deliver cherry to the Kibingo washing station in Kayanza. They started their work in 2015, and have dominated all Cup of Excellence competitions in Burundi ever since. We can see why, the quality they are producing is outstanding. This washed lot is sweet, clean, and silky with a tannic, black tea finish. Expect notes of blackberry, honey, & black tea.

All of our coffee is seasonally handpicked, with a whole lot of love and care. Once we get our hands on these precious beans, we carefully make sure to enrich the farmer’s work. Our roasting style intends to highlight and preserve the intricate flavour characteristics of every farm we purchase beans from, showcasing the unique flavour profiles from origin.
We think it is time to put the dedicated coffee farmers back into the lime light, as we believe their hard work is undervalued and more often than not, grossly under-compensated for. So let’s change that shall we?

Het Kibingo-wasstation bevindt zich in de gemeente Kayanza in het noorden van Burundi. Het station zelf ligt 1893 meter boven zeeniveau. De hoogte van de boerderijen in de aangrenzende heuvels die het wasstation bevoorraden varieert van 1.700 tot 1.900 meter boven zeeniveau. Kibingo bedient 3.515 geregistreerde koffietelers, verspreid over 18 heuvels in het gebied. Alle producenten die bij een wasstation van Greenco zijn geregistreerd, zijn georganiseerd in groepen van 30 personen, onder leiding van een boerenleider. Deze leider treedt op als woordvoerder om de communicatie en organisatie met het wasstation te vergemakkelijken.

You may recognise the name, if you’ve been checking the Cup of Excellence finalists for the past decade. This is a great example of high quality natural processing; sweet and rich but still juicy and clear. Expect a bold, ripe coffee with notes of orange, cherry, and milk chocolate.
